If you like to read, don't move to South Arlington, especially Aurora Hills. They are closing the local branch library, thanks to County Board members like Chris Zimmerman there. (See Facebook, "Save Aurora Hills Library.)
Help the cause of literacy by buying books at Politics and Prose if you can't get to the Aurora Hills Library before the county slams its doors forever to tear it down and build yet another park with tennis courts that a developer saved money on not building at his own expense, or perhaps another 3,000' ballroom for rock concerts on taxpayer funds. But be very careful because you have to take the Red Line to Van Ness and the L-2 or L-4 bus to get to Politics and Prose and you know what happened on the Red Line at the Takmoa Metro Station in June 2008, don't you? Ten people died in an accident where the signal failed. So be careful.

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. -- A judge in the legal battle over a purported sex tape involving John Edwards demanded Thursday that any deposition of the two-time presidential candidate be kept private.
Judge Carl Fox said he didn't want the details of such testimony to be discussed or released publicly, warning attorneys for both sides that there could be repercussions if the material is talked about outside of the case.
"I won't hesitate to use the contempt authority of this court," Fox said. "I don't want anyone to think this court is joking."
Attorneys for former Edwards aide Andrew Young have been trying to depose the former North Carolina senator for months. They want to ask him questions about a sex tape that Young has said involves Edwards.
Fox denied a request by a Edwards attorney Jim Cooney to limit the scope of the questioning. Cooney also failed to persuade the judge to prohibit Young from having the chance to view the deposition.
"I have an extreme amount of concern, given the fact that his clients have essentially built a commercial enterprise on things that Sen. Edwards has said," Cooney said. "Having access to this, once the bell has been rung, we can't un-ring it."
Edwards mistress Rielle Hunter is suing to reclaim materials, including the video, saying they were taken from a box of her personal belongings. Young, who has said he helped keep Hunter in hiding during the 2008 presidential campaign and later wrote a book about the experience, contends the tape was found amid trash that Hunter left behind in a home that he was renting.
Hunter worked for Edwards' political action committee in 2006, shooting behind-the-scenes video as the Democrat prepared to launch his second White House campaign. Edwards acknowledged earlier this year that he fathered a child with Hunter. He and Elizabeth Edwards have separated after more than 30 years of marriage.
Young, Hunter and Edwards were not at the hearing.

Whoever drafted Jim Webb to run for the United States Senate in Virginia is a real political genius like Karl Rove. This Webb guy is saying that black people like Obama are such privileged characters that affirmative action should end now and he got his opinion printed in The Wall Street Journal to tell all black Americans about it!!! Right before the Midterm Election.
Wow! Democrats rock!
This is what Democrats really stand for:
Health plans of unions should be taxed as Cadillac health plans, black people who are poor should not get special treatment in affirmative action programs, keep fighting wars in Afghanistan! With Democrats like these, who needs any other party? One-stop shopping should begin and end at Obama for America, right?
Give up Tea Baggers, Greens and Republicans. The Democrats haven't looked in the mirror lately to find out that they stand for all the things they say they hate about all the other parties! The Republicans want to keep the Unions down, say the Democrats, the Tea Baggers don't want affirmative action, the Republicans start wars, and the Greens are divisive. Well, the Democrats are so very divisive, I have never seen a political party so divisive as the Democrats are today. And don't get me started on healthcare "reform." That was totally the same plan that Republican Governor Mitt Romney started in Massachusetts. Wow. I mean this is totally awesome.
One-stop shopping rules! Put your money to work by handing it over to the Democrats. You don't even have to get your wallet out. You can sit back and watch them raise your taxes. And when Obama raises federal taxes, you can even write it off your state income taxes because, like it or not, the Democrats will get the IRS to tax you for all the stimulus packages and bailouts for themselves and their various local politicians who need transportation funds for projects like trolleys on Columbia Pike to get people to vote for them. Whether you like it or not, your federal taxes are going to skyrocket and guess what? You can write those off your state taxes. Isn't that awesome? http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703724104575379630952309408.html Diversity and the Myth of White Privilege America still owes a debt to its black citizens, but government programs to help all 'people of color' are unfair. They should end
